Self-initiated project (in collaboration with Eilidh MacKay)

What originally started out as a lockdown-induced brainfart quickly turned into a very real, labour-of-love collaboration between Eilidh Mackay and myself. Introducing is an Instagram feed providing brief glimpses into the careers of creative individuals. A diverse showcase of people, from all over the world, at varying stages of their careers, in different roles, jobs and disciplines, and all happy for anyone just starting out to get in touch with them.

Colourful dots of creativity

The idea of "giving back", or passing on insights, knowledge, and experiences to the next generation is something I'm confident we're all on board with. But it can be as difficult to reach out to help graduates as it is for them to connect with industry peers. So last summer I started to contact people to see if they'd be interested in introducing themselves to students and people starting out; to talk a little about their journey to date, share some of their work, and to provide some much-needed nuggets of advice to anyone who might relate to their story.

We introduced a variety of creative individuals

Over the next few months I managed to create a small backlog of videos, all ready for posting, when Eilidh joined my team at work. I spoke to her about what I was doing and asked if she'd be interested in partnering. As a recent graduate herself we figured it would be the parfect mix of minds for a project like this. By September the feed was live and we were posting our first introductions.

We also highlight students and recent graduates, every few months, from institutions across the globe. And are sponsors of 'Show Off', a Scotland wide showcase for the graduating graphic design students of 2021, whose Degree Shows have been cancelled by the Covid-19 pandemic. If you'd like us to showcase one of your projects (or think we should reach out to someone you know), please don't hesitate to drop us a message.
